Give it a go.

Hello,

As I mentioned in my last post I recently attended a Give it a go session for the university’s photo society. If your not aware what a give it a go session is, its pretty much self explanatory, its basically a session where you can try out clubs and societies without paying. You can simply go and see if there are any that you want to keep going to. I was really excited to join this one as photography is something that I have been interested in for a while.

So the day didn’t get off to the greatest start as my friend and I ended up arriving an hour early. It wasn’t on purpose, the meeting was originally supposed to start at one but the time had been changed to two but we hadn’t seen that before we left. It was wasn’t too bad though because my friend and I decided that we would go have a coffee at this local coffee shop that we found. Here we ordered two deluxe hot chocolates. They were just as luxurious as they sound. The coffee shop was really nice and it was great to get to sit and catch up which we wouldn’t have been able to do if we hadn’t been way too early. So I guess despite the earlier annoyance it all worked out for the best.

Soon it was two and we were once again standing outside the train station. It was freezing and the clouds seemed to be threatening rain. It didn’t effect anyones mood however. We were soon a group of six as we slowly began the trek up to the castle. I’m not going to lie, I was reminded at more then one point that I really needed to go to the gym more often. It wasn’t too unpleasant though as we slowly made our way up to the castle we got to know each other. I am in no doubt that we annoyed one or two passersby. Eventually we found ourselves at the top of the hill.

Before heading over to the castle we decided to first explore the church that sat just a little down the hill from the castle. It was a beautiful and historic church, although Im only going off the outside of the church, as it was closed to the the public on this particular day. Just across from the church was the old hospital. Sadly this was also closed because, as I later found out, they could not afford to keep it open anymore. It was, in its own way, beautiful as well.

After spending a good amount of time crowding the paths and taking endless amounts of photos, it was time to move on. Between the church and the castle was an old graveyard, which of course we decided to explore. It was atmospheric and just a bit creepy as well. Some of the graves were so old that they had sunken into the ground and were so weather worn that the writing was almost impossible to decipher. However, the atmosphere was ever so slightly ruined when I unceremoniously slipped and fell over one of the graves. It was not exactly the first impression that I meant to give. Of course everyone was concerned… for the camera, which had been in my hand at the time. But both myself and the camera were fine and it gave us something to laugh about later.

Slowly we made our past the graves and along the path up towards the castles. Once we got there we didn’t manage to go into the castle because it was too expensive. Not to mention the fact that it was getting late and along with that it was cold. So instead we took a few more pictures before slowly making our way back down to civilisation.

All in all, I had such a great day. The people who were a part of the photography society were really nice and it was great to spend some time with them. Plus it was nice to finally have the opportunity to use my camera again.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, until the next time…

Bye xxx
